How i hack my PS2 Memory Card With MCBoot The Easy Way to  Soft mod your Ps2!
You will need:

  1. Blank Sony Memory Card (One you don’t mind overwriting. I bought an 8Mb official red)
  2. Official Sony PS2 To PS3 Memory USB Adaptor (Try ebay, although they seem a little rare)
  3. Windows XP
  4. The software drivers and MCBoot tools
  5. An IDE hard drive or USB memory drive to store games and progams. If you get the hard drive make sure its compatible with your PS2 Fat on this website. You will also need a sony network adaptor (which does online, ethernet, and connects to the hard drive). I already had one.
  6. Game roms or Isos…try the pirate bay and search “PS2″ in the PSX category.
Once you have all these materials you can create hacked memory cards for you and your friends.

I decided to put together a quick guide on softmoding your ps2 using an official sony ps2-ps3 adaptor as i havent seen one around so here we go.


What you need
Official sony ps2-ps3 memory card adaptor - Try ebay
official ps2 memory card - Game retail shops - ebay - amazon
memory card adaptor tools - Get them HERE or HERE
A pc/laptop running windows (never worked for me on windows 7, worked for me on windows xp, windows vista i dont know)


Ok lets get started, Download the adaptor tools (link above) and extract them to your desktop, one is the drivers for the adaptor and one is for the FMCB to be installed on the memory card.

1st we need to connect the adaptor to the pc/laptop cancel the search for drivers from windows if it searches as they wont find any, we want to find the drivers manualy so on...

windows xp
click start/control panel/system now click the hardware tab at the top of the system properties, click device manager. Now we need to find the adaptor device it will be listed as unknown so in device manager scroll down to universal serial bus controllers click on it and scroll down to unknown device, right click on it and select update driver, now the hardware update wizard will pop up, select No, not this time then clkick next now select "install from a list or specific location" then click next now click browse and locate the ps3mca-windrv select it and then click OK now click next and finish now your drivers for the adaptor are installed, is should be listed in the driver manager libusb-win32 devices, double click on that and you will see it named as ps3 memory card adaptor. if you come across any problems installing the drivers uninstall them then try re install them again try both packs from the download links above.

now to format the ps2 memory card, open up the ps3mca-fmcb-1.8c folder and double click the mc-format. batch file wants the format is done double click the full-install.batch file and the FMCB is being installed on your ps2 memory card this will take a wile so be patient when finished put the ps2 memory card into the ps2 and turn the ps2 on now you will have Free McBoot installed

Didnt work for me kept getting this error when trying to format the memory card and when installing fmcb (0x000007b) when solved that error i finaly formated the memory card and when i started to install the fmcb and during installaton in the cmd i would get error and would get error in the cmd when trying to format the memory card again, so it may not work for you either.
